More than 50 new council homes have been completed and tenants moved in at Landsdale in East Kilbride.
Bellway Homes delivered 56 new homes for social rent on behalf of the council, with 20 two-bedroom cottage flats, 20 three-bedroom homes and 16 four-bedroom homes, including five homes which have been specifically designed for wheelchair users.
The project forms part of the council’s current affordable housing supply programme, which is on track to deliver more than 1,000 additional homes by 31 March 2027.
The project has been partly funded by the council and Scottish Government – More Homes Division.
The properties have been delivered to a high quality and meets the standards for Energy Efficiency, Barrier Free Access, and Housing for Varying Needs.
Chair of the council’s Housing and Technical Resources Committee, Councillor Davie McLachlan, said: “It was great to see at first hand these council homes and the positive impact they will have on the lives of our tenants.
“Looking around the development I can see why people would be delighted to be living here and becoming part of the community.
“I would like to thank Bellway for working in partnership with us and for delivering these homes which will contribute greatly to our target of more than 1,000 additional homes by March of next year.”
Fraser Conn, Regional Managing Director, Bellway Homes West Scotland said: “We’re delighted to have worked in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council to support delivery of these new homes which enhance an already award-winning development and are testament to the success of the local authority’s Home+ Programme.
“We’re sure families will enjoy setting up home in such a welcoming environment.”
